Figure AI unveiled “BotQ,” a high-volume manufacturing facility for humanoid robots.

Key Details:

  • “BotQ” is designed to manufacture up to 12,000 humanoid robots per year, eventually supporting the production of over 100,000 humanoid robots per year.

  • “This isn’t a car. You can’t hold a car part in your hand. You need machines to move car parts around a facility from A to Z. With a humanoid robot, you can hold any part in your hand,” said Figure AI CEO Brett Adcock.

  • Adcock highlights that “BotQ” is possible because humanoid robots inherently have a more adaptable manufacturing process than cars. They can be produced in smaller facilities with less specialized equipment.

Why It’s Important:

  • Figure AI is adopting Vertically Integrated Manufacturing (VIM) by having the entire production process of Figure 02 (F.02) be in-house to control product quality.

  • Figure AI is also preparing to deploy thousands of humanoid robots equipped with Helix, a Vision-Language-Action Model (VLA) that allows F.02 to See, Listen, and Do.

DEEPSEEK

🐋DeepSeek Is Being Closely Monitored by China Now

The President of China, Xi Jinping, and the Premier of China, Li Qiang, are reportedly closely monitoring Chinese AI Lab DeepSeek.

Key Details:

  • DeepSeek single-handedly plummeted NVIDIA’s stock by 17% after releasing “DeepSeek-R1,” marking the largest daily decline by any listed company in U.S. Stock Market history.

  • “DeepSeek-R1” outperformed “OpenAI o1” at a fraction of the cost with half the computational resources, including fewer cutting-edge GPUs.

  • DeepSeek is now viewed as a National Treasure in China and reportedly operates under new Chinese government restrictions.

  • For instance, DeepSeek recently coordinated with the Chinese government to enforce a strict travel ban on “key employees” by requiring them to surrender their passports.

Why It’s Important:

  • OpenAI is urging the U.S. Government to ban DeepSeek for being “state-controlled,” highlighting that the Chinese AI Lab’s user data must be shared with the People’s Republic of China (PRC).

  • DeepSeek’s strict travel ban aims to prevent the leak of “confidential information that could constitute trade secrets or even state secrets.”
