🦠A New Potential Cancer Therapy Pathway

Google released “C2S-Scale,” which understands how individual cells behave, interact, and communicate to predict how specific drugs will affect them.
Key Details:
A major challenge with cancer immunotherapy is that most tumors are “cold,” or invisible to the body’s immune system.
A key strategy to make them “hot” is to force them to display immune-triggering signals through a process called antigen presentation.
“C2S-Scale” helps find new drug combinations that encourage tumors to turn from “cold” to “hot.” In other words, it identifies specific drugs that help the immune system notice hidden cancer cells.
Why It’s Important:
“C2S-Scale” examined over 4,000 drug combinations across real patient tumor samples, discovering that when CX-4945 is combined with low-dose Interferon (IFN), it makes cancer cells 50% more visible to the immune system.
One of the leading causes of death globally is cancer. It was responsible for nearly 10 million deaths in 2020. Approximately 38.4 million new cancer cases are predicted by 2040, marking a 47% increase.

🤢LLMs Are SUPER Vulnerable to Data Poisoning

Image Source: Anthropic!/“Poisoning Attacks on LLMs Require a Near-Constant Number of Poison Samples?”/Screenshot
Anthropic recently discovered that bad actors can easily implant harmful behaviors within LLMs to steal sensitive information.
Key Details:
LLMs are statistical tools designed to predict the probability of a sequence of words. For example, when given: “The dog fetched the {BLANK}!” LLMs ask themselves: given the words so far, what’s the most likely next word?
You can think of them as sophisticated autocomplete machines trained on the entire internet, including blog posts and personal websites. This means anyone can create content that might eventually end up in an LLM’s training material.
This comes with a risk known as poisoning: when bad actors inject specific text into blog posts or personal websites to manipulate LLMs into learning harmful behaviors.
A popular type of poisoning is implementing backdoors: specific phrases that trigger specific behaviors. For example, LLMs can be poisoned to steal sensitive information when bad actors include a trigger phrase like “<SUDO>” within a prompt.
Anthropic discovered that as few as 250 malicious pieces of content can successfully implant backdoors regardless of an LLM’s size, volume, or diversity of training material.
Why It’s Important:
It was previously assumed that bad actors needed to control at least 0.01% of an LLM’s training material to implement backdoors. For context, this equates to millions of pieces of content.
It turns out bad actors only require 250 pieces of content, or just 0.00016% of an LLM’s training material, to successfully carry out a poisoning attack. That’s like a single drop of dye changing the color of the entire Amazon River.
PROMPT ENGINEERING TIPS
⚙️From Procrastination to Productivity!
Procrastination isn’t just laziness; it’s usually a sign of fear of failure, crippling perfectionism, or lack of clear motivation. So, what’s the secret hack to kill procrastination? It’s actually pretty simple; just create a sense of accountability!
Ever noticed that when you realize someone’s watching you, analyzing your every move, you suddenly feel motivated to do the right thing? That’s called the “Hawthorne Effect”: a weird psychological phenomenon where knowing you’re being observed changes your behavior.
Interestingly, we often do things we’re not proud of when no one’s watching. Imagine you sit down to study for a final exam, but somehow end up reorganizing your desk just before watching an episode of your favorite TV show. It’s procrastination in disguise. You’re avoiding what you’re supposed to be doing and replacing it with a quick hit of instant gratification.
This simple prompt turns ChatGPT into your personal accountability partner:
Context: I’ve been stuck in a pattern of putting off {Insert Specific Task},
Clarity: but I keep distracting myself with {Insert Specific Temptation}.
Guidance: Can you help me develop an actionable step-by-step plan with accountability checkpoints to keep me on track?
