🕹️AI Designs Your Next Favorite Video Game

Microsoft introduced “World and Human Action Model (WHAM),” which generates game visuals and controller actions.
Key Details:
Video games are manually written around the following Game Loop:
Gather User Inputs
Update Game State
Render It to Screen Pixels
This Game Loop creates the illusion of an interactive virtual world. In reality, it just emulates the manually written video game software.
“WHAM” can influence this Game Loop by generating unique controller actions (i.e., inputs) and game visuals (i.e., outputs) that update the Game State (i.e., the current ”snapshot” of a video game).
Why It’s Important:
“WHAM” brings us closer to AI-powered video games that generate Game States tailored to each play’s decisions, including levels, characters, and gameplay mechanics.
The long-term potential of “WHAM” is insane! It could help gaming studios reduce costs by turning Months of character design into Days.

🔬AI Agents Speed Up Scientific Research From Months to Minutes

Google Research developed “AI Co-Scientist,” a Multi-Agent AI System built with Gemini 2.0 that uses more than a half-dozen AI Agents to accelerate scientific discovery.
Key Details:
Scientists interact with “AI Co-Scientist” by briefly describing their scientific research in natural language.
Then, the AI Agents propose scientific hypotheses and evaluate the strengths and weaknesses of their scientific arguments.
Imagine a scientist exploring the links between Pesticides and Glioblastoma Cancer (i.e., a type of brain tumor). The “AI Co-Scientist” would help craft experimental designs and source relevant research papers.
Why It’s Important:
Traditional scientific research is time-consuming and highly labor-intensive. Scientists spend months, or even years, analyzing datasets, reviewing literature, and designing experiments.
The “AI Co-Scientist” enables scientists to focus on higher-order critical thinking, like applying scientific concepts to novel problems.

🦾Humanoid Robots Think Like Humans Now?

Image Source: Figure AI CEO Brett Adcock (i.e., @adcock_brett on X)/“Introducing Helix, our newest AI that thinks like a human”/Screenshot
Figure AI CEO Brett Adcock revealed “Helix,” a Vision-Language-Action Model (VLA) that enables humanoid robots to act and think like humans by helping them:
See: Understand the world like we do with our eyes.
Listen: Understand instructions like we do with our ears.
Do: Perform tasks like we do with our bodies.
Humanoid robots equipped with “Helix” can pick up virtually any small household object, like plates, pots, pans, towels, or remotes, without being explicitly programmed to do so. This achievement brings us closer to having humanoid robots that can truly learn and adapt on their own.
“Helix” is also the first VLA to operate simultaneously on two humanoid robots, which enables the two humanoid robots to collaborate on tasks like putting away groceries.
