Walmart CEO Doug McMillon reported that the company is leveraging AI models to improve customer, member, and employee experiences.

  • During Walmart’s Q2 2025 Earnings Call, McMillon announced AI add-ons to customer search engines and seller support systems.

  • Customers can also use a new shopping assistant on Walmart’s website to advise purchasing decisions, such as “Which TV is best for watching sports?”

  • Employees are equipped with an in-store mobile AI tool to quickly locate inventory to restock shelves.

  • Walmart deployed multiple AI models to create or improve over 850 million product catalog entries.

  • The open-source AI model is adept at handling complex, multi-turn dialogues while understanding conversational nuances accurately.

  • “Hermes 3” demonstrates an improved ability to take on different roles, perspectives, and opinions, driving more dynamic conversations.

  • It performs better than Meta’s Llama 3.1 405B in judgment, reward frameworks, interpretable problem-solving, and code generation.

🔐OpenAI Disrupts Iranian Influence Operation

OpenAI banned ChatGPT accounts linked to an Iranian influence operation to generate false political commentary surrounding U.S. presidential campaigns.

The OpenAI blog post explained: “We identified a cluster of ChatGPT accounts that were generating content for a covert Iranian influence operation identified as Storm-2035.”

“Storm-2035” deployed misinformation efforts across several topics, including the Gaza Conflict and Israel’s presence at the Olympic Games Paris 2024.

“Storm-2035” was also one of the threat activity clusters highlighted last week by Microsoft. Microsoft described it as an Iranian network “actively engaging in U.S. voter groups on opposing ends of the political spectrum with polarizing messaging on issues such as the U.S. presidential candidates and LGBTQ+ rights.”
