🤲Amazon Unveils Palm Scanner
No wallet, no phone, no problem. Amazon unveiled Amazon One, a neural network that uses your hand to pay for groceries, present a loyalty card, or enter a venue.
Key Details:
Amazon One utilizes unique lines, grooves, veins, and ridges on the palm to formulate a tailored signature for your credit card or Amazon account.
Amazon One is being rolled out to more than 500 Whole Foods stores and dozens of third-party locations like travel retailers, sports venues, and convenience stores.
The system was trained through millions of synthetically generated images of palms to boost its accuracy. The generated outputs accounted for illumination conditions, hand poses, and even the presence of a Band-Aid.
3M users have already tested Amazon One with 99.9999% accuracy.
Why It’s Important:
Amazon’s entry into biometric payments enhances the customer experience by providing faster checkout lines.
Merging biometrics with payment data allows retailers to track customers and provide personalized advertisements to boost revenue. These data inputs have raised privacy concerns over palm print data.
Amazon’s FAQ section states: “Amazon One will never share palm data with third parties under any circumstance, including a response to government demands, unless we’re required to comply with a legally valid order.”

🧠Mentra Provides Ideal Jobs for Neurodivergent Jobseekers
Mentra, a hiring platform that intelligently matches neurodivergents (e.g., Autism, ADHD, or Dyslexia) with ideal jobs, received a $1M pre-seed investment from Sam Altman, CEO of OpenAI.
Key Details:
Mentra has provided employment for dozens of companies, including Harvard Business Publishing, Trellix, and Auticon.
The platform has partnered with over 30 universities and more than 200 service providers across the United States.
Mentra’s talent pool has developed from 300 neurodivergent job seekers in 2022 to over 33,000 today.
Why It’s Important:
This startup goes beyond identifying keywords in resumes to match employers with talent. It considers factors revolving around a candidates neurotype, aptitude, and environmental sensitivities.
These added parameters have resulted in a one-year retention rate of 97.5%.
