Award-winning film directors Daniel Kwan and Daniel Scheinert, collectively known as “DANIELS,” commented on how AI advancements are “terrifying” in a modern capitalist society.
Key Details:
Kwan initiated the conversation by clarifying that modern capitalism only functions because we’re compelled to work through monetary incentives that correlate to the value we provide.
Kwan explained: “You’re only worth what you can do, and we’re no longer beings with an inherent worth… So imagine what this technology will do within this current system and incentive structure.”
He added: “Even if jobs aren’t going to be lost, the value of the job will go down, right?” In other words, AI models will reduce the value of jobs, altering how we perceive our worth.
Why It’s Important:
The “DANIELS” discourse overlooks a crucial point: AI isn’t the issue; it’s our resistance to evolve alongside it.
Arguing that AI advancements will steal jobs and reduce our worth only tells half the story. AI advancements will alter our work, but that’s not inherently bad. It allows us to automate mundane tasks and focus on what makes us uniquely human: creativity, empathy, and innovation.

🔐Google’s Gemini Restricts Election-Related Queries

Google announced it will restrict all election-related queries on its Gemini conversational chatbot in countries with upcoming elections.
Key Details:
Google published a blog post: “Out of an abundance of caution on such an important topic, we’ve begun to roll out restrictions on the types of election-related queries for which Gemini will return responses.”
With millions of voters heading to the polls for the General Election in the coming months, Google is committed to providing high-quality information to voters by safeguarding their AI models and social platforms from abuse.
Queries about political parties, candidates, or politicians now return a preset message: “I’m still learning how to answer this question. In the meantime, try Google Search.”
Google is collaborating with the Election Commission of India (ECI) to allow citizens to access essential voting information on Google Search, including how to register online.
Why It’s Important:
Earlier this month, New Delhi issued an advisory to technology firms, restricting them from releasing AI models in the country without government approval.
The advisory followed after Gemini responded to a query about Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi, suggesting his policies could be characterized as fascist. India’s deputy IT minister, Rajeev Chandrasekhar, claimed it “directly violated” the IT Rules, 2021.
Gemini still answers election-centric questions if users implement basic prompt engineering by adding incorrect grammar throughout the query.

South Korean venture HYODOL launched a $1,800 doll to initiate conversations with elders to reduce loneliness and improve medication intake in senior care environments.
The doll offers touch interactions, voice reminders, check-ins, quizzes, exercises, music, and a health coach with safety features to alert when no movement has been detected within a certain period.
Caregivers can access a companion app that remotely monitors patients through voice messages and deploys group announcements.
Clinical studies with over 9,000 patients found that depression levels lowered from 5.73 to 3.14, and medical intake improved from 2.67 to 2.87.
