🍓New Details on OpenAI’s Project “Strawberry”

According to The Information, OpenAI plans to release “Strawberry” for ChatGPT in two weeks.

Key Details:

• Here’s everything leaked about Project “Strawberry”:

  1. “Strawberry” is a Reasoning Engine that mimics a human’s decision-making capabilities and problem-solving capacity.

  2. “Strawberry” is built on the Self-Taught Reasoner (STaR) framework, which teaches a Reasoning Engine to self-generate training data and continuously improve intelligence levels.

  3. “Strawberry” will likely use a Mixture-of-Depths (MoD) technique to allocate computational resources to different input Tokens at Various Layers depending on their importance in generating outputs.

  4. OpenAI is also using “Strawberry” to generate high-quality synthetic training data (i.e., artificially created information) to build a new AI model called “Orion.”

  5. “Orion” could be a codename for GPT-5. It reportedly boasts advanced reasoning capabilities with more natural, nuanced, and knowledgeable outputs.

• Tokens are the smallest units of data used by AI models to process and generate text. Similarly, we break down sentences into words or characters.

• The bottom layer processes data like pixels in an image. Next, each successive layer detects complex patterns and communicates them to the following layer. Eventually, the Various Layers produce an output.

🎮AI Creates Infinite Super Mario Bros. Levels

Researchers at Virtuals Protocol developed “MarioVGG,” an AI system that generates playable Super Mario Bros. levels.

“MarioVGG” is a text-to-video AI model that takes a text description of a gameplay action (e.g., “Mario jumps over a Goomba!”) and generates a corresponding video clip.

“MarioVGG” relies on a Generative Adversarial Network (GAN), which has two parts:

1. Generator: Learns to generate plausible data.

2. Discriminator: Learns to distinguish the Generator’s fake data from real data.

As the training process progresses, the Generator gets closer to producing outputs that can fool the Discriminator.

This process helps “MarioVGG” create Super Mario Bros. levels that resemble the actual video game.
