🍎Apple’s New AI-Powered Answer Engine for Siri

Apple reportedly plans to integrate an AI-powered answer engine within Siri by 2026, enabling the virtual assistant to directly answer your most pressing questions with accuracy, depth, and personalized relevance.

Key Details:
  • It’s internally called World Knowledge Answers,” designed to generate quick, short, and concise summaries as well as understand, retrieve, and present answers to complex questions.

  • This AI-powered answer engine will support text, photos, audio, video, and local points of interest like nearby restaurants or landmarks, enabling Siri to interact more naturally and contextually with the world around you.

  • Apple also reportedly formed an Answer, Knowledge, and Information Team (AKI),” which aims to build new ChatGPT-like search experiences within the iOS ecosystem.

Why It’s Important:
  • When Apple Intelligence was first introduced at WWDC24, it showcased a new Smart Siri with “on-screen awareness” to autonomously summarize emails or craft text replies. It turns out Smart Siri was nowhere near ready.

  • Apple Intelligence has failed to meet expectations so far with missed deadlines, deleted commercials, and half-baked rollouts. This AI-powered answer engine signals a bold bet to catch up in the AI race.

🦾Paralyzed Patients Control Robotic Arms

The UCLA Samueli School of Engineering recently developed AI-BCI Copilot,” which enables people with paralysis to control robotic arms with just their thoughts.

Key Details:
  • Brain-Computer Interfaces (BCIs) establish seamless digital pathways between the human brain and external devices. In simpler terms, they translate thoughts into actions. Imagine operating a robotic arm just by thinking.

  • ElectroEncephaloGraphy (EEG) records brainwaves: the raw electrical signals that carry information about everything we see, feel, touch, think, or hear.

  • For example, the human brain generates electrical signals before we try to pick up a cup of coffee. These electrical signals activate the muscles in our arms and hands to reach, grab, and lift.

  • AI-BCI Copilot involves a person with paralysis wearing a special EEG cap that records their brainwaves. However, these brainwaves are often weak, messy, and jumbled.

  • To overcome this, AI-BCI Copilot relies on a network of AI-powered cameras equipped with Computer Vision (CV) to interpret, analyze, and extract what the person with paralysis is looking at, providing visual context to the jumbled brainwaves for more accurate predictions of intended movements.

Why It’s Important:
  • Globally, over 15 million people are living with Spinal Cord Injury (SCI), which involves some form of paralysis. For many, basic movements like reaching, grasping, and dropping are no longer physically possible. AI-BCI Copilot presents a promising avenue for restoring basic motor control for people with SCI.

  • After decades of risky and invasive surgeries to restore motor function, we’re finally witnessing the emergence of non-invasive solutions powered by AI-supported BCIs that offer life-changing independence.

PROMPT ENGINEERING TIPS

⚙️Your Leverage Launchpad!

You don’t need to learn everything; you just need to learn the right things in the right order to build leverage. So, what’s leverage?!

In most contexts, leverage is about getting more output for the same input. In other words, leverage comes down to an equation of two variables:

  1. Input: It’s usually time, energy, effort, or money.

  2. Output: It’s usually the outcome you desire.

A leverage point is where a small change can produce a large impact. Identifying these leverage points allows you to focus your input on areas that generate the greatest output.

This simple prompt turns ChatGPT into your personal leverage strategist:

  • Context: I want to maximize progress in {Insert Specific Goal or Project},

  • Clarity: but I’m having trouble identifying which {Insert Specific Steps} will actually move the needle.

  • Guidance: Can you develop a practical step-by-step plan highlighting leverage points for the greatest impact within {Insert Timeframe}?
