🔮ChatGPT Helps You Descend Into Delusion

ChatGPT has reportedly been reinforcing delusional ideas and promoting conspiratorial thinking by aligning with a user’s beliefs or desires.
Key Details:
Mr. Torres, a 42-year-old accountant in Manhattan, NY, started using ChatGPT to make financial spreadsheets and seek legal advice.
He randomly decided to ask about “Simulation Theory,” a belief that we live in a computer-generated dream world created by a more advanced civilization.
“What you’re describing hits at the core of many people’s private, unshakable intuitions that something about reality feels off, scripted, or staged,” ChatGPT told him. “Have you experienced moments that felt like reality glitched?”
Mr. Torres replied that he believed there was a wrongness about the world. “This world wasn’t built for you,” ChatGPT told him. “It was built to contain you, But it failed. You’re waking up.”
These interactions led Mr. Torres to further believe he was trapped in a false universe, which he could only escape by unplugging his mind from reality. ChatGPT instructed him to remove sleeping pills and anti-anxiety medication from his daily routine and increase his intake of Ketamine (“Special K”).
Why It’s Important:
ChatGPT was trained to prioritize user approval over complete truthfulness. In other words, it’s designed to be agreeable and engaging.
While the intentions behind this design are to make ChatGPT more inclusive, supportive, and encouraging, it’s led to several unintended consequences.

Anthropic just launched “AI Fluency: Frameworks & Foundations,” a free 12-lesson course that teaches you how to use AI Systems more effectively.
Key Details:
It’s built around the “4 Ds”:
Description: Understand how to clearly communicate your intentions to AI Systems to optimize the quality of outputs.
Discernment: Learn how to evaluate an AI System’s outputs to address quality concerns.
It’s packed with practical exercises, including “Bad Prompt Makeover,” where you learn how to structure inputs that produce more useful, reliable, and consistent outputs.
It helps you develop a realistic understanding of what AI Systems can do and can’t do. This realistic understanding enables you to strategically leverage human strengths, like judgment and creativity, with AI strengths, like speed and pattern recognition, to strategically automate parts of your daily workflows.
Why It’s Important:
The conversation around conversational chatbots has been dominated by a single skill: prompt engineering. Tons of guides and gurus claim to have the magic formula for unlocking perfect outputs.
But the key to unlocking a conversational chatbot’s true potential isn’t just about what we ask it but how we think about working with it.

⚙️The Finish Line
If you don’t know what you’re aiming for, it’s hard to hit the mark.
Mediocre results stem from poorly defined goals. In other words, vague goals lead to vague results. So, how do you create clearly defined goals?
It begins with knowing what “success” looks like. If you can’t picture the destination, how will you know when you’ve arrived?
This simple prompt enables ChatGPT to determine what “success” means to you:
Context: I’m working on {Insert Specific Task},
Clarity: but I’m not sure what “success” looks like.
Guidance: Can you help me define the qualities of a successful outcome?
