OpenAI introduced “ChatGPT agent,” a new unified agentic model within ChatGPT that autonomously writes code, navigates spreadsheets, and books travel plans.

Key Details:

• “ChatGPT agent” essentially unifies three existing ChatGPT features:

  1. Operator: an AI Agent that navigates your computer autonomously to perform actions on your behalf.

  2. Connectors: they enable ChatGPT to securely connect to third-party platforms, such as GitHub, SharePoint, and Google Drive.

  3. Deep Research: an AI Assistant that finds, analyzes, and synthesizes content across hundreds of websites to generate comprehensive summaries at the level of a Research Analyst.

• It’s all powered by OpenAI o3, a Large Reasoning Model (LRM) that’s designed to mimic how humans analyze situations and deduce logical outcomes to make informed decisions. In other words, LRMs excel at analyzing information, drawing logical conclusions, and incorporating context.

• OpenAI CEO Sam Altman posted on the r/ChatGPT Subreddit: “We’ll have better and better AI Models, but I feel like the next giant leap will be AI Agents.” Starting today, Pro, Plus, and Team plans can activate “ChatGPT agent.”

Why It’s Important:

• It transforms ChatGPT from a reactive chatbot to a proactive companion that actively engages with websites by clicking, filtering, and gathering.

🦠AI Creates More Targeted Cancer Treatments

Researchers at the Massachusetts Institute of Technology (MIT) recently developed “CellLENS,” which uncovers hidden patterns in cancer cell behavior within tumors to create more targeted cancer treatments.

Key Details:

• In order to create more targeted cancer treatments, scientists must isolate the genetic information (i.e., Genomes) and physical traits (i.e., Phenotypes) of cancer cells across various tumors.

• This process requires a deep understanding of three things:

  1. The Ribonucleic Acid (RNA) each cancer cell expresses.

  2. Where each cancer cell is located within the tumor.

  3. The size, shape, and structure of each cancer cell.

• Traditionally, scientists have been required to look at one or more of these things separately, but “CellLENS” fuses everything together to build a comprehensive digital profile of each cancer cell using:

  1. 📍Graph Neural Networks (GNNs) to map the spatial relationships between cancer cells within tumors.

  2. 🔬Convolutional Neural Networks (CNNs) to detect complex visual patterns within microscopic images, such as edges and textures.

Why It’s Important:

• One of the leading causes of death globally is cancer. According to the World Health Organization (WHO), it was responsible for nearly 10 million deaths in 2020. Approximately 28.4 million new cancer cases are predicted by 2040, marking a 47% increase.

• Traditional cancer treatments struggle to account for the full complexity of a tumor’s ecosystem, which includes not only cancer cells but also host cells and signaling molecules. AI-powered tools help decode this complexity.
