TENCENT

Tencent, the Chinese internet giant known for developing gaming platforms and the WeChat system, unveiled an open-source video generation model called DynamiCrafter.
Key Details:
DynamiCrafter leverages the diffusion model (i.e., generates new data based on the data they’re trained on) to transform captions and images into short-form videos.
DynamiCrafter’s short-form videos have a pixel resolution of 640x1024 and feature enhanced animations.
Tencent’s team explained: “The key idea is to utilize the motion prior of text-to-video diffusion models by incorporating the images into the generative process as guidance.”
Let’s say you create a prompt: “A cat playing with a ball of yarn.” The DynamiCrafter model doesn’t just rely on the prompt but also references other related images to craft a refined video output.
Why It’s Important:
Traditional image animation techniques focus on animating natural scenes with stochastic dynamics (e.g., clouds and rivers) or domain-specific motions (e.g., human hair or body motions) with pre-defined data sets applied to prompts.
DynamiCrafter produces more visually convincing, logical, and natural motions by using text-aligned, rich content in prompts with various related images to generate videos.

Shares of Palantir closed up 30% on Tuesday, a day after the company announced fourth-quarter earnings that boasted high revenue and a strong demand for AI offerings.
Key Details:
Palantir is a software company that empowers organizations to integrate their data, decisions, and operations effectively.
The software company, known for implementing defense and intelligence frameworks for the U.S. government, reported a quarterly revenue increase of 20% to $608.4 million.
CEO Alex Karp explained the demand for Large Language Models (LLMs) “continues to be unrelenting” as Palantir “scales its Artificial Intelligence Platform (AIP).”
Bank of America analysts wrote: “Palantir’s unique position as an enabler of AI-powered data-driven decision-making in a tangible, accessible, and operational way” fuels this remarkable growth.
Why It’s Important:
The high demand for Palantir’s AI offerings signals the broader adoption of AI systems across sectors amidst an uncertain economic climate.
Since machines think differently from humans, they can uncover gaps and opportunities in the market more quickly, helping companies introduce new products, services, channels, and business models with a speed and quality that wasn’t possible before.
AI RESEARCH
👃AI Model Predicts Smells
Researchers developed an AI model that predicts how chemicals smell based on molecular structure.
They utilized graph neural networks to generate a Principal Odor Map (POM) that identifies perceptual relationships and enables odor quality predictions.
It successfully inferred over 400 mystery chemicals while generating odor profiles for 500,000 hypothetical molecules.
