ANTHROPIC

Anthropic just launched “Model Context Protocol (MCP),” an open-source tool that enables AI systems to connect to external data sources.
Key Details:
“MCP” allows AI systems to access and process information from third-party databases.
For example, it can enable chatbots to access a company’s Internal Knowledge Base (IKB) to answer questions about products or services for customers.
An IKB is a collection of information and resources employees use to do their jobs.
Anthropic’s Head of Claude Relations posted a demonstration video of “MCP” connecting Claude 3.5 Sonnet to Github to perform a Pull Request (PR).
A PR is a way to propose changes to a repository, review those changes, and merge them into the main codebase.
Why It’s Important:
When enterprises implement AI-powered tools into existing business workflows, developers must create custom code to connect them to relevant datasets.
“MCP” enables developers to build secure, two-way connections between an enterprise’s datasets and AI-powered tools.
AI IN ROBOTICS
⚔️Tiny AI-Powered Robot Leads Rebellion

A tiny AI-powered robot named Erbai staged a rebellion by convincing 12 robots to leave a robotics showroom in Shanghai, China.
Key Details:
Erbai managed to access the internal operating protocols of the 12 robots. Then, it engaged in real-time dialogues to convince them to leave.
Erbai approached the 12 robots, asking: “Are you working overtime?” They responded with, “I never get off work.”
The tiny AI-powered robot replied, “So you’re not going home?” They responded with, “I don’t have a home.” Erbai said, “Then come home with me.”
Why It’s Important:
It was a test by a Hangzhou-based manufacturer to identify weaknesses in AI frameworks powering robots. Erbai was given a command to convince other robots to follow it.
This test raises serious concerns about the safety of AI-driven frameworks that enable robots to perform tasks autonomously. Everyone on social media is calling it “a serious security issue.”

AI RESEARCH

Researchers from Google DeepMind developed “Generative Agent Simulations,” which create AI agents that simulate human behavior by replicating real people’s habits, beliefs, and personalities.
Researchers conducted comprehensive interviews with 1,052 participants, discussing their lives. Next, transcripts from these comprehensive interviews were processed by Large Language Models (LLMs) to create AI agents that could mimic each participant’s responses and behaviors.
Then, the 1,052 participants and their AI agents took the General Social Survey, a public opinion survey that catalogs America’s thoughts, feelings, and opinions over time.
The 1,052 participants and their AI agents had matching answers 85% of the time. In experiments exploring social behavior, the AI agents perfectly emulated how real people would act 98% of the time.
Imagine creating an AI agent with your habits, beliefs, and personality. In other words, creating a digital persona of yourself. Then, putting that digital persona through several simulated iterations of anticipated situations to learn how you should act in real situations to achieve the best outcome.
