Apple introduced “Siri AI,” which is profoundly more capable, conversational, and context-aware. It can access details from iOS apps like Mail, Notes, Photos, Messages, and Reminders to help draft emails, send text replies, and compile grocery lists. It’s also equipped with “onscreen awareness” to take action on what’s in front of you.

It’s primarily powered by AFM 3 Core Advanced, a natively multimodal, on-device foundation model that protects your privacy by processing personal information entirely on your iPhone. In other words, the private data “Siri AI” taps into to be more helpful never leaves the physical hardware of your iPhone.

But there’s an exception. When “Siri AI” needs to retrieve broader world knowledge, like surfing the web to answer complex, multi-part questions, it relies on tailored variants of Google’s Gemini models. Apple officially entered into a $1-billion-per-year arrangement to license these Gemini-powered variants, even employing them to enhance Visual Intelligence, where Gemini enables “Siri AI” to see, hear, and speak about what you’re looking at through your iPhone’s camera.

Apple Intelligence failed to meet expectations with missed deadlines, deleted commercials, and half-baked rollouts. Apple ultimately agreed to a $250 million settlement in a class-action lawsuit over false advertising after failing to launch the more personalized Siri first announced at WWDC24. Apple aims to press the reset button this year.

We’re witnessing a strategic shift from touch to talk, and it all starts with “Siri AI.” Imagine asking what to cook based on the ingredients in front of you and receiving a spoken recipe in return that replaces the need for an unlocked iPhone to occupy your hands. We’re finally going beyond simple isolated voice commands like: “Hey Siri, set a timer for five minutes.”

Cloudflare CEO Matthew Prince recently revealed that there’s more “web traffic” from bots than humans across the internet for the first time ever. For reference, bots account for 57.2% of “web traffic,” while humans account for 42.8%. It’s mainly driven by the rise of AI agents, which analyze, arrange, and automate without you lifting a finger.

A perfect example is Google Search’s new intelligent search box that dynamically expands so you can describe exactly what you’re looking for. It achieves this by leveraging “search agents,” which simultaneously run multiple related searches across several subtopics, pulling from hundreds of data sources.

At Microsoft Build 2025, Microsoft CEO Satya Nadella announced the “Open Agentic Web.” It’s a bold vision where AI agents will require a complete rethinking of how the web works, prioritizing Machine-Readable Formats (MRF) that provide structured, semantically clear data for AI agents to effortlessly fill out medical intake forms and book hotel reservations on your behalf. In simple terms, MRFs allow bots to efficiently process and populate the web without human intervention.

The adoption of agentic AI will transform how the internet stores, structures, and serves data. While humans navigate the internet visually, AI agents navigate it structurally. In other words, we read pixels while they read code. The digital world will strategically shift from eye-catching visuals to machine-readable data.

We’re experiencing a digital migration from asking, “What can I search for?” to “What can my browser do for me?” It’s the desire for intelligent delegation over manual navigation. That’s what initially made answer engines like Perplexity AI so popular. It eliminated the hassle of sifting through endless blue links to find trustworthy answers.
