🧠Elon Musk’s Brain Implant Startup

Neuralink, Elon Musk’s venture that develops chip implants to monitor brain waves, secured an additional $43 million in venture capital funding.
Key Details:
Neuralink formulated a sewing-machine-like device capable of implanting ultra-thin threads inside the brain. The threads connect to a processor containing electrodes capable of decoding information from groups of neurons.
These wireless implants read signals from a paralyzed patient’s brain and transmit the data to an external device like an iPhone.
Elon Musk explained that the venture’s goal is “to achieve a symbiosis with artificial intelligence” that helps humans “merge with AI.”
Why It’s Important:
Neuralink strives to aid individuals with paralysis in communicating by remotely controlling devices using brain activity. This venture will enhance user memory, strengthen cognitive abilities, and restore a user’s motor functions.
This week’s SEC filing confirms the company increased its valuation from $280 million in early August to $323 million today. Reuters reported the company was valued at $5 billion in June after privately executed stock trades.
In 2022, the Physicians Committee for Responsible Medicine (PCRM) alleged Neuralink mistreated countless monkeys involved with testing the hardware by subjecting them to physiological distress and chronic infections.

⚙️xAI Is Launching Grok This Week

Elon Musk’s latest project, xAI, plans to launch its conversational chatbot Grok for X Premium+ subscribers this week.
Key Details:
Grok is an open-source conversational chatbot that accesses real-time knowledge through the X platform to provide answers with a witty personality and rebellious streak.
Grok is a new feature of a higher-priced X Premium+ subscription that costs $16 monthly.
Grok will be implemented directly into X’s interface (formerly Twitter) with a unique tab within the platform.
Why It’s Important:
Unlike other AI platforms chatbots that are serious in their interactions, Grok is designed to answer questions with humor. This ability to use sarcasm provides a human touch to AI interactions.
As Satya D., a search engine optimizer at Surfer, explained, “Grok’s understanding of language nuances and human behavior allows it to deliver quick-witted and humorous responses filled with quips, puns, and sarcasm.”
