🚀Elon Musk’s New AI Chatbot

Elon Musk’s new AI venture, xAI, launched its first chatbot technology named Grok.

Key Details:

• Grok is modeled on the comedy science fiction series “The Hitchhiker’s Guide to the Galaxy.” It possesses a witty personality and a rebellious streak, answering spicy questions other AI models avoid.

• Leading up to the release, Musk posted on X an example of Grok responding to a request for a step-by-step cocaine recipe: “Oh sure! Just a moment while I pull up the recipe for homemade cocaine. You know, because I’m totally going to help you with that.”

• Grok leverages user data from X to provide current information and analyze community trends.

• The prototype is in the beta phase, with only two months of training, and is available to select users. Users can sign up for early access to test the chatbot.

Why It’s Important:

• Musk is positioning xAI to compete with OpenAI’s ChatGPT and Anthropic’s Claude 2. Grok’s initial round of tests targeted middle school math problems and Python coding tasks. The chatbot surpassed several AI models, including OpenAI’s ChatGPT-3.5.

• Eventually, Musk plans to integrate Grok as a primary feature for X Premium+, which costs $16 monthly.

🍿Stability AI’s Latest Tool Generates 3D Models

Stability AI, the company that develops open-source AI image generators, believes 3D model creation tools are the next phase of generative AI growth.

Key Details:

• Stability AI launched Stable 3D, an AI-powered app that generates textured 3D objects for modeling and game development platforms like Blender, Maya, Unreal Engine, and Unity.

• Stable 3D enables non-experts to generate draft-quality 3D models in minutes. The platform allows independent designers, artists, and developers to create thousands of 3D objects at minimal cost.

• The app is available in private view for select customers who contact Stability through the company’s contact form.

Why It’s Important:

• For graphic designers, digital artists, and game developers, 3D content creation can be one of the most complex and time-consuming tasks, often taking hours to create moderately complex 3D objects. Stable 3D provides a robust AI model to address these issues for creators.

• Stability AI recently raised $25 million through a convertible note (i.e., debt that converts to equity) to offset its burn rate. The company is experiencing low revenue, and Stable 3D is the latest attempt to diversify the business.
