MicroAGI, a robotics research lab originally founded in Germany, famously pioneered “SHIFT,” which pays U.S. businesses for every recorded hour of work. In simple terms, it’s intended to turn human labor into robot data to train Embodied AI, which helps humanoid robots have the same internal sense of bodily awareness as humans.

For example, every time Figure AI’s F.03 moves a robotic limb, it leverages an embodied AI model called Helix 02 to continuously compare the predicted feel with the real sensation, helping F.03 see, act, and do just like humans. In other words, it’s all about equipping humanoid robots with the ability to learn and adapt in real time.

Retro Bio first entered the spotlight after partnering with OpenAI to debut “GPT-4b micro,” which engineers proteins with a focus on the Yamanaka Factors: a set of four genes that reprogram adult cells back into stem cells. It achieved a 50x improvement in cellular reprogramming, positioning Retro Bio at the forefront of regenerative biology.

As we age, our bodies become less efficient at repairing damaged tissues. Luckily, “GPT-4b micro” has shown promising progress in developing new stem cell variants that can restore these damaged tissues by turning into the specific cells needed to repair them. For example, the new stem cell variants can turn into nerve cells, muscle cells, or blood cells to improve the skin, heart, or brain.

For context, more than 843,000 Americans die of stroke or heart disease every year. “GPT-4b micro” could help reduce the natural DNA damage that leads to cardiac decay.

The global population aged 65 and older will jump from 10% today to 16% by 2050. As longevity science improves and birth rates decline, economies worldwide are grappling with the effects of aging populations, including rising healthcare costs and unsustainable public pension programs. Retro Bio aims to keep us biologically younger, reducing the economic burdens associated with age-related diseases.
