Figure AI announced that it’s building the Center for the Advancement of Humanoid Safety (CAHS) to pioneer humanoid robot workplace safety standards.

Key Details:

  • Figure AI, a robotics company designing humanoid robots to perform dangerous or undesirable jobs, recently released Figure 2 (F.02).

  • F.02 is optimized for manufacturing, warehousing, and retail positions where “labor shortages are the most severe.”

  • A fleet of Figure AI’s humanoid robots are working at the BMW Factory in Spartanburg, SC, raising concerns about how humanoid robots affect workplace safety. After all, one of the key selling points of humanoid robots is the ability to work alongside humans.

Why It’s Important:

  • Workplace safety organizations like the Occupational Safety and Health Administration (OSHA) have yet to “set any specific safety standards for the robotics industry.”

  • To address these concerns, CAHS will solely focus on testing F.02’s “detection of humans, stability while stationary, and stability while moving.”

🔬”MDGen” Predicts How Molecules Move Over Time

OpenAI introduced “ChatGPT Gov,” a new tailored version of ChatGPT that’s designed to provide the U.S. government with streamlined access to OpenAI’s frontier AI models.

The U.S. government can self-host “ChatGPT Gov” within their own Microsoft Azure Government Cloud, enabling agencies and departments to more easily manage their security, privacy, and compliance requirements while leveraging frontier AI models to streamline productivity.
