🎄First Day of “12 Days of OpenAI” Event

OpenAI released the full version of “OpenAI o1” and introduced a new “ChatGPT Pro” plan during the first day of the “12 Days of OpenAI” event.

Key Details:

• The “12 Days of OpenAI” event involves 12 livestreams across 12 days of “a bunch of new things, big and small.”

• “OpenAI o1” is a new series of AI models designed to spend more time thinking before they respond.

• It deploys a Chain of Thoughts (CoT) framework to break down complex problems into manageable steps. Similar to how humans think before responding to difficult questions.

• In a qualifying exam for the International Mathematical Olympiad (IMO), it correctly solved 83% of problems. In comparison, GPT-4o (“o” for “omni”) correctly solved only 13% of problems.

• “OpenAI o1” is now available for ChatGPT Plus and Team plans, with Enterprise and Education plans gaining access next week.

• The new “ChatGPT Pro” plan costs $200 per month and grants unlimited access to the best OpenAI has to offer.

Why It’s Important:

• @AndrewMayne explained that you can’t think of “OpenAI o1” as a traditional conversational chatbot. Instead, view it as a really smart friend that helps you tackle tasks.

• During the livestream, “OpenAI o1” solved complicated Thermodynamics problems exploring how energy is transferred and transformed within specific regions of the universe.

🎮Google DeepMind’s “Genie 2” Generates Playable Worlds

Google DeepMind introduced “Genie 2,” a new AI model that generates an endless variety of playable 3D worlds to train AI agents.

Key Details:

• “Genie 2” converts simple text prompts with images into “rich 3D worlds” that humans or AI agents can interact with through a mouse and keyboard.

• These “rich 3D worlds” leverage Physics Simulations to replicate gravity, friction, and collisions between objects.

• For example, “Genie 2” deploys Fluid Dynamics to replicate the behavior of liquids and gases, such as water and fire.

• In trials, a Scalable Instructable Multiworld Agent (SIMA) successfully navigated these “rich 3D worlds” through natural language commands like “sprint into the woods.”

Why It’s Important:

• “Genie 2” helps AI agents learn to interact with objects and navigate through environments in a way that mirrors real-world challenges.

• This exposure to diverse scenarios improves an AI agent’s generalization abilities, making it more adaptable to new situations.

CLONE ROBOTICS

🫁A Humanoid Robot With Synthetic Organs

Clone Robotics recently developed “Clone Alpha,” a humanoid robot built with synthetic (i.e., artificially created) organs and muscles to mimic the human body’s speed, weight, power, and energy efficiency.

“Clone Alpha” uses Myofiber, a synthetic muscle fiber that contracts using water pressure, instead of traditional Robot Actuators (i.e., the “muscles” of the robot) that either convert electrical energy into rotational motion or use compressed air to produce linear motion.

“Clone Alpha” is also equipped with an AI training platform called “Telekinesis,” which allows humans to teach the humanoid robot new skills like cooking meals, folding laundry, or vacuuming the apartment.

Clone Robotics is only manufacturing 279 “Clone Alpha” variants with pre-orders launching in 2025.
