OpenAI reportedly rolled out “Project Stagecraft,” an internal initiative that requires paying as many as 4,000 freelancers at least $50/hr to generate high-quality, domain-specific training data across a variety of job roles.

OpenAI also asked third-party contractors to submit real work from past job roles, even leaving them with the responsibility of removing “confidential materials” and “personally identifiable information.” It’s all about establishing evaluation metrics for real-world, economically valuable tasks. A great example is “GDPval.”

OpenAI defines real-world, economically valuable tasks as consisting of (1) a task request: the instructions given by a boss, and (2) a task deliverable: the work delivered in response to those instructions.

Anthropic’s on track to turn a profit much faster than OpenAI. The ChatGPT maker forecasts operating losses to reach roughly $74 billion by 2028, burning about 14x more cash than Anthropic before turning a profit in 2030. So, what’s the difference? Anthropic focuses on steady, sustainable growth with early profitability through business demand rather than chasing consumer novelty.

Now, OpenAI’s strategically pivoting to Enterprise AI, even shutting down “Sora” to save the roughly $1 million it costs every day to generate AI slop on a TikTok-style app. The ChatGPT maker just secured a record-breaking $122 billion in committed capital at a $852 billion post-money valuation to go all-in on business customers.

A quantum is the smallest discrete unit of a phenomenon. For example, a quantum of electricity is an electron. It’s derived from the Latin word “quantus,” which means “how much” or “how great.”

While traditional computers utilize “bits” (i.e., 0 or 1) to process information sequentially (i.e., one at a time), quantum computers utilize “qubits” (i.e., 0 or 1, or both at the same time) to process information in parallel (i.e., multiple at a time).

The quantum state is when a “qubit” has the potential to be either 0 or 1, but it’s not one or the other yet. It’s like a coin flipping in the air; it’s both heads and tails until it lands. This state of flux enables quantum computers to explore trillions of possibilities at once.

A quantum computer would solve a complex, multi-step problem almost instantaneously, whereas a traditional supercomputer would take up to 10 septillion years to solve the same thing. For context, the universe’s age is estimated to be around 13.8 billion years, a mere fraction of a septillion years.

According to McKinsey & Co., surging “innovation investments” could propel the global quantum market to reach $100 billion within the next decade. Google already unveiled “Willow,” while Microsoft showcased “Majorana 1.”
