🚀Google Launches Early Access to Gemini
Google reportedly allowed a small group of companies early access to Gemini for testing purposes.
Key Details:
Gemini is Google’s conversational AI model intended to compete with OpenAI’s GPT-4 model. Gemini is capable of powering chatbots, summarizing text, writing content, and creating contextual images.
Google intends to launch Gemini through Google Cloud to compete with OpenAI’s Application Programming Interface (API) system.
Google is reportedly using YouTube video transcripts to train Gemini. Using YouTube data presents an opportunity to develop text-to-video software.
Gemini could become a versatile AI model that enhances existing Google products and services like Bard, Google Docs, and Slides.

For Google, the stakes of Gemini’s launch are high. As the competitive landscape of generative AI intensifies, Google is poised to present its AI capabilities with Gemini.
Having learned valuable lessons from the rushed introduction of Bard, Google is determined to ensure a watertight entry into the market. The generative AI market is projected to reach $109.4B by 2030.
Gemini is designed from the ground up to be multimodal, integrating text, images, and other data types to allow for more natural conversational abilities.

🚰Microsoft Accidentally Exposes Sensitive Data
Microsoft developers accidentally exposed tens of terabytes of sensitive data, including private keys, passwords, and search history, while publishing a storage bucket of open-source training data on GitHub.
Key Details:
Cloud security startup Wiz discovered a GitHub repository owned by Microsoft’s AI research division with cloud-hosted data.
Readers of the GitHub repository were provided open-source code and instructed to download AI models for an Azure storage URL. However, Wiz discovered this URL was configured to grant access to the entire storage account, exposing user’s private data.
This private data included 38 terabytes of sensitive information, such as passwords to Microsoft services, secret keys, and over 30,000 internal Microsoft Teams messages from hundreds of Microsoft employees.
Why It’s Important:
This URL was configured to allow “full control” rather than “read-only” permissions, allowing anyone to potentially delete, replace, and inject malicious content into the existing data.
Wiz’s research prompted Microsoft to expand its GitHub secret spanning service, which monitors all public open-source code changes for plaintext exposure of credentials.
