Leaked screenshots and discovered code suggest Google is working on a paid version of Bard called “Bard Advanced,” powered by Google’s new AI model Gemini Ultra.
Key Details:
Bard Advanced will use Google’s not-yet-publicly available Gemini Ultra to analyze more complex user queries and provide advanced math and reasoning skills.
Gemini Ultra is the first AI model to outperform human experts on various tasks like machine translation, text summarization, and sentiment analysis.
Leaked screenshots showed a new feature called “Motoko,” which allows users to create custom bots for specific functions.
Discovered code snippets unveiled additional tools like “Power Ups” to supercharge responses and “Gallery” to explore different use cases for Bard.
Bard Advanced will be available through a Google One subscription, offering users a three-month free trial.
Why It’s Important:
Google has been onboarding several upgrades to enhance Bard’s offerings, like summarizing YouTube videos or accessing the Google button to double-check Bard’s statements.
These leaked features could transform Bard into an advanced multimodal chatbot, delivering accurate and valuable information beyond OpenAI’s GPT-4 model.

NIST recently published an AI Risk Management Framework to help developers identify when adversaries deliberately confuse or “poison” AI systems to cause malfunctions.
Key Details:
AI systems have permeated modern society, functioning in capacities ranging from interacting with customers as online chatbots to helping doctors diagnose illnesses.
These AI systems learn to perform tasks through training on vast quantities of public data. The public data may be sourced from websites, allowing bad actors to corrupt the data.
NIST computer scientist Apostol Vassilev explained: “We’re providing an overview of attack techniques and methodologies that consider all types of AI systems.”
Why It’s Important:
The report identified four major types of attacks:
Evasion: attempting to alter an input to change how the AI system responds.
Poisoning: occurs in the training phase by introducing corrupt data.
Privacy: occurs during deployments when adversaries misuse AI models.
Abuse: involves inserting incorrect information into a source, like a webpage or a document, to repurpose an AI system’s intended use.
