APPLE
🍎Apple Puts More AI in Your Pocket

Apple is rolling out the second wave of Apple Intelligence, a new suite of AI features built directly into iOS 18.2, iPadOS 18.2, and macOS Sequoia 15.2 to streamline daily tasks.
Key Details:
Here’s a concise breakdown of the three new Apple Intelligence features:
GenMoji: Creates AI emojis tailored to your conversations.
Image Playground: Creates fun, playful images in apps like Messages, Notes, Keynote, and Pages.
Siri + ChatGPT: Siri can access OpenAI’s ChatGPT to access “broader world knowledge” when answering questions.
Also, Apple released “App Intent APIs,” which allow developers to make the onscreen content in their apps accessible to Siri.
Why It’s Important:
Apple Intelligence has failed to meet expectations so far. However, Siri’s “on-screen” awareness might change that. It’ll allow you to control actions in apps with your voice and automate mundane tasks like compiling a grocery list, managing emails, or crafting texts.
Siri is more natural, flexible, and deeply integrated. With richer language-understanding capabilities, Siri can “follow along when you stumble over your words and maintain context from one request to another.”

🏛How Donald Trump’s Victory Impacts AI Regulations
A historic election cycle has come to an end. Donald Trump will be the 47th President of the U.S., and Republicans have secured control of the Senate. So, how will this impact AI regulations?
Key Details:
President Joe Biden’s approach revolves around his Executive Order on Safe, Secure, and Trustworthy AI, which covers everything from advancing AI in healthcare to attracting AI talent.
However, one provision requires companies developing powerful AI models to report their training methods and other critical information to government agencies.
For example, the U.S. Commerce Department’s National Institute of Standards and Technology (NIST) actively monitors the private sector’s AI projects to identify and correct flaws.
Ohio Senator and Trump’s running mate JD Vance said, “Preemptive overregulation entrench the Tech Incumbents we already have.”
In other words, he believes prematurely regulating emerging technologies could unintentionally harm innovation and reduce competition.
Tech Incumbents are established companies with a large market share in the technology industry. They often have strong brand recognition and loyal customer bases.
Trump’s Camp will likely eliminate what they view as “burdensome regulations” that stifle AI developments in the private sector.
Why It’s Important:
Biden’s Cabinet supports a slower, safety-focused approach that involves government oversight, industry regulations, and monitoring unlawful discrimination to fuel antitrust actions.
Trump’s Camp favors looser regulations and vocally supports open-source AI developments: the public release of underlying code that can be copied and altered to create new AI applications.
