🚀Humane’s $699 “Ai Pin” Launches

Humane officially launched the “Ai Pin,” a small wearable device that projects apps onto surfaces and relies on voice commands or user hand gestures to complete tasks.

Key Details:

  • The “Ai Pin” is a square device that magnetically clips to your clothes. It collects data through an onboard camera and several motion sensors to track and record user environments.

  • The device is powered by Qualcomm’s Snapdragon processor and leverages AI models for seamless voice-based commands.

  • Humane founder Imran Chaudhri explained: “Ai Pin embodies our vision to integrate AI into the fabric of daily life, enhancing our capabilities without overshadowing our humanity.”

  • The “Ai Pin,” a charger, and two battery boosters cost $699. Humane’s $24 monthly subscription plan includes a phone number and cell data through T-Mobile.

⚔️The U.K.’s Antitrust Enforcer vs. Big Tech’s GenAI

The U.K.’s Competition and Markets Authority (CMA) published a paper outlining Big Tech’s monopolistic command over AI advancements.

Key Details:

  • CMA’s paper highlighted the recurring presence of Google, Amazon, Microsoft, Meta, and Apple (GAMMA) across the AI value chain: compute, data, AI model development, partnerships, and distribution platforms.

  • While CMA recognizes that partnership arrangements “can play a pro-competitive role in the technology ecosystem,” the concentration of select technology firms with market power in today’s most powerful digital markets could deter fair, open, and effective competition.

  • The U.K.’s antitrust enforcers claim GAMMA’s omnipresence highlights how firms can control “critical inputs” for developing general-purpose AI models.
