ANTHROPIC
👀 Is Anthropic Eyeing a $380 Billion Public Listing?

Anthropic officially raised a $30 billion Series G funding round at a $380 billion post-money valuation.
Key Details:
Today, Anthropic’s run-rate revenue is $14 billion, representing over a tenfold increase in revenue each year for the past three years. For context, Anthropic projects $70 billion in annual revenue by 2028, with business customers accounting for nearly 80% of that revenue.
Anthropic serves over 300,000 business customers, with those paying $100,000 annually growing nearly sevenfold this past year. Even crazier, about 500 of those business customers are spending $1,000,000 annually for Claude.
Anthropic also recently brought on Wilson Sonsini, an American multinational law firm known for helping Big Tech companies prepare for public listings, to assist with drafting an “internal checklist of changes” needed to IPO in the second half of 2026.
Why It’s Important:
Anthropic’s on track to turn a profit much faster than OpenAI. The ChatGPT maker forecasts operating losses to reach roughly $74 billion by 2028, expecting to burn through about 14x more cash than Anthropic before turning a profit in 2030.
The world’s two most valuable frontier AI firms are taking vastly different approaches to growth. Anthropic’s focused on steady, sustainable growth with early profitability through business demand. OpenAI’s focused on abrupt, aggressive growth with delayed profitability through consumer adoption.

🪰 AI Controls the Brains of Male Fruit Flies

Nagoya University (NU) recently developed “YORU,” which detects animal actions and decodes the underlying neural circuits that orchestrate them.
Key Details:
NU relied on a biological technique called “Optogenetics,” which combines light with genetic engineering to precisely control the neural activity of male fruit flies. In simple terms, they shine light on male fruit flies to turn specific neurons on or off, acting like a dimmer switch for the roughly 200,000 brain cells that control flying, mating, and grooming.
“YORU” captured the lovemaking attempts of male fruit flies with a camera, leveraging AI-powered algorithms to analyze the footage and identify when they performed courtship dances by extending and vibrating their wings. Once identified, the AI-powered algorithms sent electrical signals that triggered the light to turn on. Once the light turned on, the genetically engineered neurons inhibited the courtship efforts.
Imagine a male fruit fly in a laboratory chamber extends his wings and vibrates them to produce a love song. A female fruit fly listens nearby. Suddenly, a light flashes across the laboratory chamber, and the male fruit fly’s love song cuts off mid-note. Unimpressed, the female fruit fly quietly buzzes away.
Why It’s Important:
Fruit flies are highly efficient specimens and ethically manageable models in biomedical research due to their 75% genetic similarity with human disease-causing genes. While a male fruit fly’s brain is smaller, the neurotransmitters, such as dopamine and serotonin, are remarkably similar to ours.
Currently, many epilepsy patients take heavy medications daily to prevent occasional seizures. If we could learn how to turn “seizure-like” neural activity off, we could replace heavy medications with a “neural dimmer switch” that avoids the side effects of brain fog and chronic fatigue.
