• Zuckerberg also announced the launch of AI Studio, a new platform for creating, sharing, and discovering AI characters.

Avi Schiffmann, a Harvard Dropout and 2020 Webby Person of the Year for tracking COVID-19 outbreaks, created an AI necklace called Friend.

Key Details:

• The AI necklace connects to your iPhone via Bluetooth and constantly listens to you. It also sends push notifications to your iPhone, similar to text messages.

• For example, Friend might wish you good luck before a final exam, job interview, or first date.

• “I’d view the product as an emotional toy. Constant companionship is one of AI’s killer use cases. With hardware present, I believe it creates a better emotional connection,” said Schiffmann.

• RedBoxRx discovered that 54% of Gen Zers reported loneliness, and 52% reported feelings of failure to achieve life goals.

• Schiffmann has raised over $2.5 million at a $50 million valuation from investors like Perplexity AI CEO Aravind Srinivas and Morning Brew CEO and co-founder Austin Rief.

🔬AI Identifies Breast Tumor Stages

Ductal Carcinoma in Situ (DCIS) is a non-invasive tumor that can progress into a lethal form of breast cancer. DCIS represents over 25% of all breast cancer cases.

MIT researchers and ETH Zurich scientists developed an AI model to distinguish the different stages of DCIS from breast tissue images.

The AI model was trained on a dataset of 560 tissue sample images from 122 patients across three disease stages.

The AI model assesses the proportion and spatial arrangements of cell states, resulting in eight distinct states critical for diagnosing DCIS.

“We took the first step in understanding how we should examine the spatial organization of cells when diagnosing DCIS. Now, we’ve developed a scalable technique,” said MIT’s Dr. Caroline Uhler.
