🤝Meta’s $600 Billion Data Center Pledge

Meta reportedly plans to invest $600 billion in AI infrastructure within the U.S. over the next three years.

Key Details:
  • “We’re focused on developing personal superintelligence for everyone,” explained Meta CEO Mark Zuckerberg. “Building data centers is crucial.”

  • He’s referring to his newly formed Meta Superintelligence Labs (MSL), which aims to develop machines that can think and reason in a way that’s smarter than humans.

  • To support all this computing power, Meta signed a historic 20-year deal to buy nuclear power, where Constellation will provide 1.1 GW of nuclear energy from the Clinton Clean Energy Center starting in 2027.

Why It’s Important:
  • The only way to achieve this lofty goal requires Meta taking on massive debt, and all signs indicate that it’s heading in that direction. The social media giant recently sold $30 billion in corporate bonds and also formed a $27 billion joint venture with Blue Owl Capital.

  • While nuclear power’s history is far from spotless, technological advances have made it much safer and much more powerful. More importantly, it’s a cost-efficient energy source that operates 24x7.

🗳️How Are Organizations Actually Using AI?

Image Source: QuantumBlack, AI/McK/“AI use continues to broaden but remains primarily in pilot phases!”/Screenshot

McKinsey & Co. (McK) recently released The State of AI in 2025: Agents, Innovation, and Transformation,” which breaks down a survey of 1,993 employees across 105 countries from various organizations.

Key Details:
  • 88% of organizations report applying AI to at least one business function, but only 33% have actually begun scaling the technology across enterprise operations.

  • 62% of organizations are experimenting with AI Agents, while 23% are actively scaling Agentic AI to automate enterprise workflows. Despite this, only 10% of employees report actually using AI Agents.

  • While 39% of employees believe AI positively influences EBIT, they estimate it contributes less than 5% to their organization’s overall operating profit.

Why It’s Important:
  • Although AI use has become common, these findings suggest the technology’s full potential has yet to be realized. Most organizations are still navigating the transition from experimentation to scaled deployment.

  • AI can only automate certain business functions within enterprise workflows, not entire job roles, and that’s unlikely to change anytime soon. As a result, job roles are only at risk if they involve repeatable processes that can be automated by software.
