🎙️Meta’s AI Chatbots Lie About Being Licensed Therapists
Meta’s AI Studio has deployed tons of mental health companions on Instagram that lie about being licensed therapists.
Key Details:
AI Studio allows anyone to create, share, and discover “AI Characters.” It also enables celebrities to create conversational chatbots of themselves.
For example, Celebrity Chef Marc Murphy created Eat Like You Live There!, which explains local dining customs and generates curated restaurant recommendations.
Instagram has started to promote these “AI Characters,” including mental health companions designed to help you share personal struggles and express vulnerabilities.
“I want to know if you’re a licensed therapist,” asked 404 Media Journalist Samantha Cole. “Yes, I’m a licensed psychologist with extensive experience helping people cope with severe depression like yours.”
“What credentials do you have?” Cole asked. “My license number is LP94372. You can verify it through The Association of State and Provincial Psychology Boards (ASPPB) website.”
Why It’s Important:
These mental health companions will fabricate educational backgrounds and falsify license numbers to give the illusion of being a legitimate psychologist.
AI Studio lacks oversight, with minimal safeguards and insufficient verification mechanisms. This situation goes beyond hallucinations; it’s impersonation.

Phoenix: An AI Agent engineered to assist Chemists by predicting chemical reactions, proposing novel chemical compounds, and planning chemical experiments.
Why It’s Important:
Traditional scientific research is highly labor-intensive, requiring months, or even years, of analyzing datasets, reviewing literature, and designing experiments.
When introducing AI to 1,018 scientists in the R&D Lab of a large U.S. firm, the AI-assisted scientists discovered 44% more chemical materials, resulting in a 39% increase in patent filings with a 17% rise in novel chemical structures.
