Meta announced new AI add-ons to the Ray-Ban smart glasses collection, including video calling and a “Meta AI with Vision” feature.
Key Details:
Now, users can share their view on video calls via WhatsApp and Messenger completely hands-free.
Meta’s AI assistant can now process visual data to provide content-specific information like translating text or identifying objects.
The social media giant is also integrating multimodal AI capabilities to create a hands-free, on-the-go experience where users can ask their glasses questions about what they see.
Why It’s Important:
AI-powered smart glasses can complete complex tasks such as scanning and analyzing surroundings or offering contextual information about objects in view.
The new “Meta AI with Vision” feature integrates with the camera to process visual data. This new feature could normalize the idea of Augmented Reality (AR).
Augmented Reality (AR) is an interactive experience that overlays computer-generated content into the real world.

NVIDIA
💵Nvidia Acquired Run:ai

Nvidia acquired Run:ai, a Tel Aviv-based startup that helps developers and operations teams manage and optimize their AI hardware infrastructure.
Key Details:
CTech reported that Nvidia and Run:ai were in “advanced negotiations,” with Nvidia offering upwards of $1 billion to acquire the startup.
Nvidia claims it’ll continue to offer Run:ai’s products and services under the same core business model while investing in the startup’s roadmap to enhance Nvidia’s DGX Cloud.
Nvidia’s DGX Cloud is a supercomputing service that provides enterprises access to the infrastructure and software required to train and deploy generative AI models.
Run:ai is Nvidia’s largest acquisition since purchasing Mellanox Technologies for $6.9 billion in 2019 to supply end-to-end high-speed Ethernet solutions.
Why It’s Important:
Nvidia is developing an AI infrastructure management platform to incentivize companies to also use Nvidia’s proprietary technology.
For example, more than 4 million global developers rely on Nvidia’s CUDA software platform to build and deploy AI tools. These developers naturally leverage Nvidia’s GPUs because they’re optimized for CUDA’s architecture.
AI RESEARCH
🧬Editing the Human Genome With AI?!
Profluent researchers developed OpenCRISPR-1, the world’s first precision gene editing process, using molecules designed from scratch with AI models.
Gene editors like CRISPR/Cas9 are complex systems that alter an organism’s DNA by allowing genetic material to be added, removed, or altered at precise locations in the genome. However, CRISPR/Cas9 can cause undesirable site effects due to delivery efficiency.
To address these issues, Profluent researchers trained Large Language Models (LLMs) on the most diverse set of CRISPR-based gene editing systems to develop OpenCRISPR-1: an AI-generated gene editor that facilitates research.
