OpenAI is rolling out an early version of Canvas, a new way of working with ChatGPT to write content and solve coding tasks.
Key Details:
Canvas is a new interface for working with ChatGPT on writing content or solving coding tasks beyond the simple chatbot interface.
Canvas opens in a separate window, allowing you and ChatGPT to work side by side.
ChatGPT with Canvas can suggest edits, adjust response lengths, change reading levels, and offer inline feedback when writing content.
ChatGPT with Canvas can review code, add logs, fix bugs, and port to other coding languages such as Java, Python, JavaScript, TypeScript, or C++ when solving coding tasks.
Starting today, Plus users and Team accounts can try Canvas by selecting “GPT-4o (“o” for “omni”) with Canvas” in the AI model picker section of ChatGPT.
Why It’s Important:
“This feature offers a more natural interface for collaborating with ChatGPT,” said OpenAI Product Manager Daniel Levine.
Microsoft owns 49% of OpenAI after investing nearly $13 billion. Microsoft’s GitHub Copilot is the world’s most popular AI-powered coding assistant.
The companies might integrate Github Copilot into Canvas in the future to streamline developer workflows.

Have you ever wanted to travel through time and see what your future self would think, feel, or say about a decision you plan on making?
MIT researchers developed “Future You,” an AI system that enables users to have a text-based conversation with an AI-generated simulation of their future selves.
“We don’t have a time machine yet, but AI can act as a virtual time machine. We can use this simulation to help people think more about the consequences of their choices today,” explained Pat Pataranutaporn, Co-Lead author of “Future You.”
In a study of 344 participants, those who used “Future You” were able to build a closer relationship with their future selves. They reported less anxiety about the future after their interactions.
