📊OpenAI Acquires Multi

OpenAI has acquired Multi, a startup developing a multiplayer collaboration platform built for software development teams.
Key Details:
Multi is a multiplayer collaboration platform tailored for macOS 15 operating systems. It allows real-time project collaboration through shared screens, cursors, and editable documents.
Multi Co-Founder and CEO Alexander Embiricos explained: “The startup exists to make building together truly multiplayer. By facilitating frictionless collaboration on code, teams can work faster and be more productive.”
Multi is a startup specializing in the “shared control” of other people’s devices, including co-opting phone apps.
OpenAI has reportedly been developing AI agents that can autonomously execute multi-step tasks for users.
Multi’s multiplayer collaboration platform offers a solid foundation for building AI agents that can act autonomously in digital environments.
Why It’s Important:
The deal is technically an “acquihire” since most of Multi’s team will join OpenAI to integrate and refine Multi for future OpenAI projects.
AI agents perform tasks, while conversational chatbots like OpenAI’s ChatGPT generate information to help you make decisions.
While conversational chatbots can perform functions like summarizing documents or analyzing open-ended user queries, their context is limited to the prompting environment.
In contrast, AI agents can operate autonomously across websites, apps, and data types (e.g., text, image, video, audio, and code).
STABILITY AI
🦾Stability AI’s New Leadership

Stability AI, a once-high-flying startup focused on developing and distributing open-source AI models, recently appointed a new CEO as part of its restructuring effort.
Key Details:
Stability AI Founder and CEO Emad Mostaque resigned from his role and position on the Board of Directors to pursue decentralized AI.
His decision followed a string of high-level research member departures and investor pressure from Coatue Management and Lightspeed Venture Partners.
Mostaque posted on X: “We’re not going to beat centralized AI with more centralized AI.” He also noted Stability AI had a “strange focus on revenue.”
Former Weta Digital CEO Prem Akkaraju is stepping in as Stability AI’s managing director.
Stability AI generated less than $5 million in revenue in the first quarter of this year while posting losses exceeding $30 million.
The startup also owes nearly $100 million to cloud computing providers.
Why It’s Important:
This leadership transition is accompanied by a fresh funding round led by Sean Parker, an American entrepreneur and philanthropist known for Co-Founding Napster and being Facebook’s first President.
The restructuring effort could provide the startup a second chance, but given the behind-the-scenes drama, brain drain, and reported financial issues, Stability AI faces several challenges.

AI RESEARCH
🔬AI Blood Test Predicts Parkinson’s Disease
Researchers from University College London (UCL) and University Medical Center Goettingen (UMG) developed an AI-powered diagnosis tool that predicts Parkinson’s disease.
The AI-powered diagnosis tool examined blood samples of 72 patients experiencing idiopathic Rapid Eye Movement Behavior Disorder (iRBD), a condition known to increase the likelihood of developing Alzheimer’s disease.
The UCL and UMG researchers found that 79% of the patient’s blood samples exhibited the same biomarkers commonly found in individuals with Parkinson’s disease.
The AI-powered diagnosis tool identified molecular markers linked to inflammation and protein degradation. During a decade-long follow-up period, the UCL and UMG researchers observed that 16 of the patients developed Parkinson’s disease.
The AI-powered diagnosis tool predicted Parkinson’s disease up to seven years before clinical symptoms emerged.
