🔧OpenAI Adds New Fine-Tuning Options

OpenAI added new fine-tuning options for GPT-4o (“o” for “omni”), allowing developers to customize the AI model for specific use cases.
Key Details:
Developers can now fine-tune GPT-4o (“o” for “omni”), which involves training the AI model on a specific dataset to improve its performance on particular tasks.
The new fine-tuning options are available to all OpenAI Plus users, and developers can train up to a million tokens daily for free until September 23, 2024.
Tokens are the smallest units of data used by AI models to process and generate text. Similarly, we break down sentences into words or characters.
A tokenizer is a specific program that converts raw text into tokens. You can experiment with OpenAI’s GPT-4 tokenizer here.
Why It’s Important:
Last week, AI firm Cosine was granted early access to fine-tune GPT-4o (“o” for “omni”). Then, the company produced “Genie,” a fully autonomous software engineer.
With free fine-tuning options now available for GPT-4o (“o” for “omni”) for all developers, prepare for a new wave of more complex AI assistants.

Chinese robotics startup AGIBOT unveiled a family of five new humanoid robots to challenge Elon Musk’s Tesla Optimus offerings.
Key Details:
AGIBOT’s family of five new humanoid robots includes:
Expedition A2: an interactive service robot built for customer-facing environments like reception desks.
Expedition A2-W: a flexible manufacturing robot built for industrial settings to grab, place, and handle objects.
Expedition A2-Max: a heavy-duty robot built for arranging and stacking goods onto pallets for transportation, storage, or shipping.
Lingxi X1: a fully open-source, smaller, more agile robot tailored for home care tasks like fetching items.
Lingxi X1-W: a wheeled version of the Lingxi X1 designed for healthcare applications to assist with physical therapy.
AGIBOT’s five new humanoid robots are wheeled or biped to mimic how humans move to assist with household chores or streamline industrial operations.
Why It’s Important:
AGIBOT also developed Integrated Data-System for Embodied AI (AIDEA): an AI framework that develops datasets of robot interactions with objects, environments, and humans.
AIDEA extracts relevant information to improve humanoid robot algorithms, making them adapt to new situations more smoothly.

Disney Research scientists developed an AI system that generates realistic movements for virtual characters or robots from simple text descriptions.
The AI system leverages a two-stage technique:
Stage One: Creates compressed motion data that captures the essential features of a character’s movements or robot’s actions.
Stage Two: Learns how to generate appropriate actuator commands (i.e., a character’s digital infrastructure or a robot’s joints) based on the compressed motion data to control the character’s movements or robot’s actions.
