OpenAI just announced four new upgrades to ChatGPT search that enable it to quickly, directly, and accurately generate more up-to-date outputs.

Key Details:
  1. Shopping: You can now find, compare, and buy products directly within ChatGPT, with the ability to generate curated customer reviews.

  2. Trending Lookups: ChatGPT can now display the most relevant search queries related to breaking news, trending topics, or emerging interests.

  3. Search in WhatsApp: You can now send a WhatsApp message to 1-800-ChatGPT (i.e., +1-800-242-8478) to receive live sports scores.

THE AI COLD WAR

🇨🇳China’s Plan to Achieve “AI Self-Sufficiency” by 2030

The President of China, Xi Jinping, plans to spend roughly $275 billion over the next five years to achieve “AI Self-Sufficiency.”

Key Details:
  • The money will be directed into three main areas:

    1. AI Talent Pipelines: Establish AI Curriculums and AI Interdisciplinary Programs within educational institutions to cultivate a robust AI-centric workforce.

    2. Advanced AI Chip Developments: Build cutting-edge semiconductor technologies with a 3nm process, which offers higher transistor density with more computational power and faster processing speeds.

    3. Domestic AI Software Ecosystems: Develop advanced AI models with multimodal capabilities that contain frameworks like Mixture of Experts (MoE) and Reinforcement Learning (RL).

Why It’s Important:
  • The Premier of China, Li Qiang, emphasized the desire to achieve “Full-Stack AI Autonomy” by 2030, with complete internal supply chains for critical AI technologies.

  • China’s push for “AI Self-Sufficiency” is deeply rooted in the strategic imperative to secure technological independence in an era of geopolitical tension with the U.S.
