OpenAI CEO Sam Altman informed company staff that OpenAI is on pace to achieve $3.4 billion in annual revenue.
Key Details:
According to The Information, OpenAI’s current annualized revenue is $3.4 billion, up from $1.6 billion in 2023.
In an all-hands meeting on Wednesday, Altman explained that $3.2 billion was generated through OpenAI’s products and services.
Altman also noted that OpenAI is on pace to generate over $200 million by offering access to the company’s AI models through Microsoft Azure.
OpenAI recently appointed a new Chief Financial Officer (CFO) and a new Chief Product Officer (CPO) to “prepare for the company’s next phase of growth.”
Why It’s Important:
When announcing OpenAI’s new CFO and CPO, Altman stated: “Sarah Friar and Kevin Weil bring a depth of experience that will enable OpenAI to scale our operations.”
OpenAI is targeting “Business-to Business” (B2B) opportunities through ChatGPT Enterprise to establish longer customer lifecycles and stable revenue streams.
Notable ChatGPT Enterprise users include Canva, Moderna, and PwC.

Microsoft is “retiring” the ability for Copilot Pro users to create custom versions of Microsoft Copilot just months after adding the feature to focus on commercial and enterprise applications.
Key Details:
Microsoft Copilot is an AI-powered conversational chatbot that integrates with Microsoft 365 apps like Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook, and Teams to make users more productive and creative.
The Copilot GPT Builder allowed Copilot Pro users to create customer versions of Microsoft Copilot for specific use cases.
On Microsoft’s support page, the company states: “We’re shifting our focus on GPTs to Commercial and Enterprise Scenarios.”
This statement suggests a form of Copilot GPT Builder will exist for commercial or enterprise Copilot teams.
Why It’s Important:
Copilot Pro users are surprised Microsoft gave up on consumer GPTs so quickly. Making the Copilot GPT Builder strictly for “Commercial and Enterprise Scenarios” cuts off a significant source of innovation.
The most valuable and commonly used OpenAI GPTs are developed by random consumer-facing user experiments with OpenAI’s GPT-4.

Researchers at the University of Tokyo published a paper exploring autonomous driving through musculoskeletal robots.
Musculoskeletal robots leverage tendon-driven systems to mimic the bone, muscle, and tendon movements of humans.
Their musculoskeletal robot, called Musashi, is equipped with artificial muscles and cameras (e.g., LiDARs, GPS, and force sensors) to perform complex maneuvers while gripping the steering wheel.
The researchers developed various software modules to control Musashi’s movements, including:
Static Module: Posture and balance.
Reflex Module: Quick reactions to unexpected events.
Recognition Module: Perceive surroundings and enact driving tasks.
Dynamic Task Control Module: Pedal pressure and steering wheel movements.
Musashi successfully operated a steering wheel, adjusting pedal pressure in response to car horns.
