OpenAI quietly released a āGPT mentionsā feature that enables users to integrate custom chatbots directly into text prompts.
Key Details:
The beta feature is available by typing ā@ā during a prompt input, directing ChatGPT to offer a list of GPTs to mention in conversations.
@danshipper described this feature in December: āYou may have a single channel where you can chat with many different bots at once.ā
These improvements reduce GPT friction, enabling users to access GPTs through prompts instead of navigating to the GPT store.
The beta version is slowly being rolled out to ChatGPT premium users.
Why Itās Important:
This new feature allows users to integrate multiple GPTs into a single conversation, streamlining workflows, boosting productivity, and reducing friction.
ChatGPT could have different bots in a single channel, offering their āperspective and expertise when appropriate.ā

šWhite House Delays Legislative Action on AI

On Monday, the White House AI Council discussed the safety, privacy, and security concerns surrounding AI models in the public and private sectors.
Key Details:
In October, President Joe Biden signed an executive order focused on civil rights, industry regulations, and government investment in AI tools.
White House Deputy Chief of Staff Bruce Reed led the meeting and said Biden ādirected us to move fast and fix things.ā
The White House confirmed nine agencies, including the Defense, Transportation, and Treasury departments, submitted risk assessments under Bidenās order.
Efforts in Congress to pass legislation addressing AI have stalled despite high-level forums and legislative proposals.
Why Itās Important:
The Biden administration is trying to prevent malicious actors from exploiting vulnerabilities in AI systems for cyberattacks or disinformation campaigns.
Prominent economists and AI investors fear these regulations will stifle the growth engine of the American economy.
