• The letter mentions a project called Q* (i.e., “Q-Star”), which is believed to focus on Artificial General Intelligence (AGI).

• OpenAI defines AGI as “AI systems that are generally smarter than humans” at economically valuable tasks.

• Q* can solve specific mathematical problems, displaying computing capabilities to pursue a singular answer.

• Internal messages between staffers cite the letter as a primary factor fueling Altman’s firing.

Why It’s Important:

• Researchers value math as the frontier of generative AI development. Currently, AI models are proficient at writing and language translation, but answers to the same question vary widely.

• Conquering the ability to solve math problems, where there is only one correct answer, implies AI would have greater reasoning capabilities resembling human intelligence.

📱Turn Your iPhone Into a ChatGPT Voice Assistant

With OpenAI’s ChatGPT voice feature now available for free, iPhone users can replace Siri with ChatGPT by configuring their Action Button to launch OpenAI’s voice assistant.

Key Details:

• Apple’s latest iPhones, the 15 Pro and Pro Max, support configuring the new Action Button to replace the ringer switch.

• Depending on your preferences, you can associate the Action Button with several tasks, like opening the camera, turning on the camera, or recording a voice memo.

• Enable the Feature:

  1. Download the ChatGPT app.

  2. Scroll down to the “Action Button” menu in the iOS settings screen.

  3. Swipe over to the “Shortcut” option.

  4. Tap on the blue “Choose a Shortcut” button.

  5. Scroll through the alphabetized list of supported apps and select “ChatGPT.”

• Once configured, press the Action Button to enable your ChatGPT voice session.

• Users can choose from five diverse voices for their ChatGPT assistant: Ember, Sky, Breeze, Juniper, and Cove.
