OpenAI’s ChatGPT is headed to Arizona State University (ASU), where it’ll optimize the processes, programs, and services that help students achieve their goals.
Key Details:
ASU is integrating “ChatGPT Edu” into projects across teaching initiatives and research departments.
“ChatGPT Edu” allows universities to deploy OpenAI’s AI models to students, faculty, and staff within campus operations.
ASU also created “The AI Innovation Challenge,” which invites faculty and staff to submit proposals for using ChatGPT to maximize their teaching efforts.
For example, it led to the creation of “Sam,” a conversational chatbot that helps students in the College of Health Solutions practice patient-provider interactions through role-based conversations.
ASU Chief Information Officer (CIO) Lev Gonick explained: “Our prompt engineering course has become one of the university’s popular courses.”
Prompt engineering refers to crafting effective prompts to extract specific responses from Large Language Models (LLMs).

Chinese scientists and U.S. researchers developed “ActFound,” an AI model that predicts bioactivity to accelerate drug development.
Key Details:
Bioactivity is the effect a substance has on a living organism or tissue.
“ActFound” combines two Machine Learning (ML) methods, Meta-Learning and Pairwise Learning, to overcome small datasets with limited labeled data.
Meta-Learning: also called “learning to learn,” trains AI models to adapt to new tasks on their own.
Pairwise Learning: compares pairs of data points instead of individual data points.
Pairwise Learning allows “ActFound” to measure the biological activity of a substance for drug discovery.
It was trained on 35,644 assays (i.e., the specific amount of a substance) and 1.6 million measured bioactivities.
“ActFound” outperformed nine competing AI systems in predicting the bioactivity of cancer drugs.
Why It’s Important:
“ActFound” could accelerate drug development by predicting compound properties with fewer datasets at lower costs.
Accurately predicting bioactivity can improve drug quality by enhancing effectiveness with fewer side effects.

Anthropic, an AI safety and research company building reliable, interpretable, and steerable AI systems, released the “System Prompts” for Claude.
Claude is Anthropic’s AI assistant, which boasts advanced reasoning capabilities, code generation, and multilingual processing.
“System Prompts” are the operating instructions that guide the tone, style, and focus of LLMs.
By sharing the “System Prompts,” Anthropic essentially provides a glimpse into the underlying mechanisms guiding Claude’s responses. This decision is a significant step towards transparency among AI firms.
