OpenAI just launched “Sora by OpenAI,” a new social media app for AI-generated video clips that closely resembles TikTok.
Key Details:
It’s all powered by Sora 2, a video generator that converts brief text descriptions into physically accurate, realistic, and controllable short films.
The social media app creates shareable 10-second video clips when given prompts or photos, as long as the photos don’t contain people.
You can use the cameo feature to include yourself within a shareable 10-second video clip after following a series of steps to authenticate who you are.
Why It’s Important:
Short-form content dominates current social media trends. For instance, YouTube Shorts now commands over 90 billion daily views, with 80% of Gen Z watching short-form content on a weekly basis.

The quantum state is when a “qubit” has the potential to be either 0 or 1, but it’s not one or the other yet. It’s like a coin flipping in the air; it’s both heads and tails until it lands. This process enables quantum computers to explore trillions of possibilities at once.
OpenAI’s GPT-5 Thinking Mode helped recall and implement essential mathematical concepts from previously overlooked research on Quantum Complexity Theory to verify QMA protocols with perfect completeness. In other words, quantum computers can now verify quantum proofs with 100% certainty.
Why It’s Important:
For context, quantum computers can solve complex problems in minutes that would take a supercomputer 10 septillion years to complete. To put this into perspective, the universe’s age is estimated to be around 13.8 billion years, a mere fraction of a septillion years.
This breakthrough showcases how ChatGPT can function as a proactive companion that actively finds, analyzes, and synthesizes technical literature to meaningfully contribute to the progress of scientific discovery within specialized areas like quantum science.
