When Apple Intelligence was first introduced at WWDC24, it showcased a new Smart Siri with “on-screen awareness” to autonomously manage emails and craft text replies on your behalf. It turns out this new Smart Siri was nowhere near ready.

Apple Intelligence has failed to meet expectations so far with missed deadlines, deleted commercials, and half-baked rollouts. Apple currently faces several class-action lawsuits for false advertising over the new Smart Siri. Apple’s internal AI research initiatives have failed spectacularly.

Google’s set to provide a tailored version of Gemini that enables Siri to generate quick, short, and concise summaries of anything on your screen as well as interact more naturally and contextually with the world around you through audio, photo, and video.

Apple aims to make Siri the “true hands-free controller of your iPhone” that can see, hear, and speak naturally to anticipate your needs. More importantly, truly recognize the world in a more human-like way, unlocking safer, smarter, and speedier assistance in real-world environments.

Imagine yourself at a chaotic airport terminal, where boarding calls blare, rolling suitcases rattle, and travelers surge by. Amid the chaos, your older brother Henry is nowhere in sight. You lift your iPhone 17, open the camera, and ask: “Hey Siri, where’s Henry?” Suddenly, a small green box appears, locking onto a familiar someone: “Henry spotted just past the far security gate!”

The global adoption of AI continued to rise in the second half of 2025, increasing by 1.2 %pts, with roughly one in six people worldwide now using GenAI.

Despite this, the data reveals a widening divide: AI adoption grew nearly twice as fast in the Global North. As a result, 24.7% of the working-age population in the Global North is now using GenAI, compared to only 14.1% in the Global South.

South Korea made the largest jump of any country in AI adoption during the second half of 2025. The share of the working-age population using GenAI rose from about 26% to over 30% in just three months.

In many countries, those constantly exposed to AI are more likely to be “mainly excited” about the transformative technology. For example, roughly 39% of South Koreans familiar with AI are excited about the transformative technology’s rapid integration within society.

There’s a strong positive correlation between economic prosperity and AI awareness. In other words, those in wealthier countries have heard a lot about AI. For example, the GDP Per Capita in the U.S. is about $86,000, and roughly 47% of Americans have heard a lot about AI.

Greater familiarity with AI often leads to more optimistic views of the transformative technology’s potential. In short, when people experience AI’s benefits firsthand, they’re less likely to fear it and more likely to embrace it. As a result, developing countries with limited exposure to AI remain more hesitant, contributing to the widening global AI divide.
