  • The project will leverage sophisticated AI systems, including Deep Neural Networks (DNNs), Large Language Models (LLMs), and multimodal AI models that can process text, images, audio, video, and code.

Elon Musk’s social media platform X has been targeted with a series of privacy complaints after it leveraged European user data to train AI models without consent.

Key Details:

  • X automatically activated a new setting that allows the company to use your content for AI model training.

  • A social media user also discovered a “Data Sharing” setting that states: “Allow your posts as well as your interactions, inputs, and results to be used for AI model training and fine-tuning.”

  • The series of privacy complaints against X have been filed with data protection authorities in Austria, Belgium, France, Greece, Ireland, Italy, Poland, Spain, and the Netherlands.

  • The protection authorities accuse X of leveraging European user data to train AI models without correctly obtaining their consent.

Why It’s Important:

  • Max Schrems, Chairman of Privacy Rights for NOYB, explained: “We want to ensure X fully complies with European law, which, at the bare minimum, requires asking users for consent.”

  • This situation could set a precedent for how social media platforms handle user data for AI purposes, influencing future regulations and industry standards.
