TESLA

Tesla rolled out a series of new self-driving features, including the ability to Reverse, Perform U-Turns, and Start FSD From Park.
Key Details:
Full Self-Driving (FSD) is an advanced driving assistant that helps your Tesla autonomously perform actions like steering, accelerating, and breaking.
FSD relies on Tesla Vision, which uses a network of cameras and Computer Vision (CV) to self-park, auto-lane change, and navigate traffic. CV enables computers to interpret, analyze, and extract visual data.
It aims to replace Ultrasonic Sensors, LiDAR, and RADAR. Tech billionaire Elon Musk believes that humans “drive with their eyes,” so self-driving cars only need vision.
FSD V13.2.1 enables Tesla to autonomously shift between three gears as needed (e.g., Reverse, Park, and Drive). This functionality allows Tesla to perform three-point turns.
Why It’s Important:
According to iSeeCars, Tesla’s Model Y and Model S are some of the most fatal cars, with 5.6 deaths per billion vehicle miles. However, iSeeCars speculates that driver behavior is the biggest contributor, not vehicle design.
FSD V13.2.1 is one step closer to reducing the impact of driver behavior on road safety.

OPENAI
🎄Ninth Day of “12 Days of OpenAI” Event

OpenAI had a Mini DevDay and introduced four new features for developers during the ninth day of the “12 Days of OpenAI” event.
Key Details:
The “12 Days of OpenAI” event involves 12 livestreams across 12 days of “a bunch of new things, big and small.”
Here’s a summary of the four new features:
Realtime API Updates will make it easier for developers to build interactive AI-powered apps.
New Go and Java SDKs are available for developers who prefer to work in those programming languages.
“OpenAI o1” in the API will support Function Calling, Developer Messages, Structured Outputs, and Vision Capabilities.
A new customization technique called Preference Fine-Tuning will allow developers to pre-train AI models using prompts with corresponding responses.
Software Developer Kits (SDKs) are a collection of tools, libraries, and documents that help developers integrate AI features into their software applications.
An Application Programming Interface (API) allows multiple software applications to share data, features, and functionality back and forth with each other.
APIs enable developers to add AI features to their software applications without having to build AI algorithms from scratch.

AI RESEARCH
🧬“Boltz-1” Predicts Biomolecular Structures
Image Source: Canva’s AI Image Generators/Magic Media
Researchers at the Massachusetts Institute of Technology (MIT) developed “Boltz-1,” a fully open-source AI model for predicting biomolecular structures. So, how does it work?
“Boltz-1” predicts the structure and interactions of all of life’s molecules by analyzing a broad spectrum of Biomolecules: chemical compounds found in living organisms.
They’re the building blocks of life and perform essential functions in living organisms. Important Biomolecules include DNA, RNA, and Ligands (i.e., a small ion, protein, or molecule that binds to the DNA Double Helix).
“Boltz-1” uses Multiple Sequence Alignment (MSA) to identify the evolutionary relationships between proteins. By aligning multiple protein sequences, MSA can accurately predict how proteins interact with other proteins. So, why does this matter?
Imagine a scenario where scientists develop a new drug to combat a specific disease. They know that if they inhibit a target protein in the human body, it could alleviate the symptoms of the disease. However, designing a drug molecule that can bind to this target protein is a complex challenge. “Boltz-1” can map out the target protein, enabling scientists to find binding sites for the drug molecule.
