🤝Actors Union Announces AI Voice Acting Deal

SAG-AFTRA, the union representing over 150,000 film and TV performers, announced a deal for using AI voices in video games.
Key Details:
The deal involves Replica Studios, an AI voice platform for games and film, and establishes the licensing of digitally replicated voices.
Replica aims to build “the world’s greatest library of AI-powered voice actors.”
The deal coordinates minimum terms and conditions, requiring companies to acquire consent from artists before replicating their voices. Performers can also decline the continuous use of their voice in future projects.
Why It’s Important:
This deal ensures actors consent to AI tools using their name, image, and likeness. It also protects artists from being exploited without their knowledge or consent.
AI voices significantly reduce production costs by eliminating the need for human voice actors, studios, and post-production expenses, resulting in lower costs for paid services like Netflix, Hulu, or HBO Max.
