According to a new survey from Resume Builder, about 65% of U.S. managers leverage AI at work to make high-stakes personnel decisions.

They surveyed 1,342 U.S. managers and found that:
78% use AI to determine raises.
77% use AI to determine promotions.
66% use AI to determine layoffs.
64% use AI to determine terminations.
97% use AI to create training materials.
94% use AI to build employee development plans.
91% use AI to assess performance.
88% use AI to draft Performance Improvement Plans (PIPs).
More than 1 in 5 U.S. managers allow AI to make personnel decisions without human input.
68% of U.S. managers who use AI to oversee personnel haven’t received formal training on how to ethically use it.
When asked which AI-powered tool they rely on most, 53% said OpenAI’s ChatGPT, 29% said Microsoft Copilot, and 16% said Google’s Gemini.
Why It’s Important:
The rise of AI-powered tools threatens to automate as many jobs as it creates for white-collar, entry-level job roles. For instance, AI-powered tools are projected to automate 67% of a Sales Representative’s daily tasks and 53% of a Market Research Analyst’s daily tasks.
In contrast, managerial, senior-level job roles are thriving, with AI-powered tools handling the more tactical, repetitive, or analytical workflows, enabling them to focus more on strategic oversight.

💭MIT Just Taught AI to Learn Mid-Prompt
The Massachusetts Institute of Technology (MIT) recently explored “Test-Time Training (TTT),” which helps LLMs solve complex problems they’ve never seen before.
Key Details:
In simple terms, an LLM is a sophisticated autocomplete machine trained on the entire Internet.
Training an LLM involves showing it millions of sentences with the last word removed (e.g., “He unlocked the {BLANK}!”) and having it guess what comes next.
Each time the LLM guesses wrong, it adjusts thousands of Weights: numerical values that help it decide which words or patterns to rely on for better guesses in the future.
For example, when processing “He unlocked the {BLANK}!,” it learns to focus heavily on “he” and “unlocked” to predict “door.”
LLMs excel at performing simple tasks similar to what they’ve been trained on, but struggle with complex problems they’ve never seen before.
To solve this, they developed TTT, which tweaks an LLM’s Weights in real time during AI Inference: everything that happens after you enter your prompt.
It’s like a student being allowed to study while taking the exam, instead of relying only on what they memorized beforehand.
Why It’s Important:
Traditionally, LLMs are “frozen” or “static” after training. TTT enables LLMs to learn on the fly based on new information they encounter.
TTT makes LLMs more adaptable in real-world scenarios, helping them perform better in law, finance, or medicine, where flexibility is crucial for success.
